Wow. I'd been to my share of Marie Callenders' during my formative years, and a recent visit to the nearby MC was like a distillation of all the depressing parts of those memories. The food was bland, but not horrible, the wait staff seemed oblivious, the entire place just seemed… awkward. It feels like a Jared Hess (Napoleon Dynamite, Gentlemen Broncos) movie smothered in brown gravy.
I do have good memories of the pies from childhood, but I'm not sure I want to step back inside for fear of a coma based on salt and depression.
