Many of you have already expressed your desire to put the emphasis on the view when Maple Leaf’s Reservoir Park is completed in 2012, but what kind of art would you like to see at the park?

You’ve got two chances this weekend to make your opinion heard with the artist himself, Patrick Marold, who will be at a reception tonight from 5-7 on the south lawn at 1233 N.E. 88th St., as well as at Cloud City Coffee, 8801 Roosevelt Way N.E., from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

What else is going on this weekend?

  • Put your working gloves on Saturday morning and head to Thornton Creek’s Park No. 6, where the Green Seattle Partnership is organizing a cleanup including weeding and plant maintenance from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tools and refreshments will  be provided, but volunteers should wear long sleeves, long slacks, sturdy shoes and, of course, gloves. For more information, contact Cheryl Klinker at 367-4635 or cakaea@comcast.net
  • Sacajawea Elementary School is celebrating its new playground with a parade and ribbon-cutting ceremony before its Spring Arts Festival. The events take place from 2-5 p.m. Saturday at the Maple Leaf school, 9501 20th Ave. N.E.
  • Sunday offers a feast of gluttony in Maple Leaf, but you can start off the day by joining the 12-week boot camp session that starts at 9 a.m. in Maple Leaf Park. Contact Emerald City Fitness to reserve your spot.
  • Afterward, why not head over to Hudson New American Public House, 8014 15th Ave. N.E., for its Brett Brunch, which will feature four sour ales paired with a three-course meal from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. as part of Seattle Beer Week.
  • If you’re still hungry after that, Parfait Organic Artisan Ice Cream will be at Blue Saucer, 9127 Roosevelt Way N.E., from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The eco-friendly mobile vendor will be in the café’s parking lot every Sunday in May.

There are plenty of other nearby events also worth noting:

  • The 15th annual Greenwood/Phinney ArtWalk, which you can read more about in our sister blog PhinneyWood, takes place from 6-9 p.m. Friday and from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday. More than 100 artists will be featured at 60 businesses along Greenwood and Phinney avenues between 59th and 87th streets.
  • And there’s more festivities in the University District. Check out our sister blog U District Daily to read about the U-District Street Fair on Saturday and Sunday and other events, including the Beat the Bridge race that begins at 8 a.m. Sunday at Husky Stadium.
  • For musical fans, “Guys and Dolls” kicks off this weekend at the Shorecrest Performing Arts Center, 15343 25th Ave. N.E., with performances at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday; and “110 in the Shade” continues its run at Seattle Musical Theatre, 7400 Sand Point Way N.E., with performances at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday.
