Molly Moon’s Homemade Ice Cream truck stopped in the neighorhood around lunch today, and with it brought a few rays of sunlight.
But if you missed your chance to grab a frozen gourmet treat, you’ll get another opportunity later this weekend when Parfait Organic Artisan Ice Cream takes its frequent parking place in front of Blue Saucer, 9127 Roosevelt Way N.E., from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday – at least if you’re not planning on being at the Family 4th at Gas Works Park celebration.
There is plenty more going on in and around the neighborhood that is unrelated to fireworks. On Saturday, Thornton Place is celebrating the release of “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” with a blood drive from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., followed by an appearance at 7 p.m. by an as-yet-unnamed cast member from the film. And there is also a bevy of activities in Fremont all weekend long:
- Feeling ghoulish this Fourth of July weekend? You’re invited to join the “living dead” in the second annual Red, White & Dead event from 5-8 p.m. Saturday in Fremont, which is an attempt to set a zombie walk world record.
- Fremont offers another unique way to celebrate Independence Day: a Lost & Found scavenger hunt in which participants use GPS devices to find “geocaches.” The free geocoaching event, organized by Fremont’s Groundspeak, takes place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday in the Evanston Plaza adjacent to the Fremont Sunday Market (Evanston & North Northlake, Latitude 47.649605 Longitude 122.350445).
- And tonight is the monthly Fremont First Friday Art Walk. Details on our sister blog Fremont Universe.
