Our hottest day ever – one year ago today

Do you remember last year at this time? It was one year ago today that Seattlites experienced the hottest day in Seattle’s history.

July 29, 2009, was also the day of the Maple Leaf Summer Social that year. It was HOT!

With the mercury topping out at 103 degrees, many in Maple Leaf retreated to their basements for the better part of a week.

Today things are much different.  This afternoon it’s 30 degrees cooler in the neighborhood than last year. The forecast calls for “cloudy with local drizzle this morning… becoming mostly sunny in the afternoon. Highs in the lower 70s. Southwest wind to 10 MPH.”
