Summer ends in Maple Leaf with a spate of crime

The first part of September brought a return to school and a rash of minor crimes in Maple Leaf. According to police reports:

The most serious crime here apparently occurred shortly after midnight on Sunday, Sept. 12, with a “body force” street robbery in the 1200 block of Northeast 92nd Street. No further details were immediately available.

Home burglaries that didn’t require forceful entries (i.e., things not locked up tight) included:

  • Thursday afternoon, Sept. 9, in the 800 block of Northeast 78th Street.
  • Sometime between Thursday, Sept. 2 and Sunday, Sept. 5, in the 800 block of Northeast 80th Street.
  • Just before 6 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 3, in the 1600 block of Northeast 86th Street.

Vehicle theft, i.e., cases where an entire vehicle was stolen, not just broken into:

  • At least three cars were stolen from Northeast Northgate Way - one from the 300 block on Sunday evening, Sept. 12; and another from the same block on Friday evening, Sept. 3; and a third from the 500 block on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 4.
  • On Sunday afternoon, Sept. 5, a truck and a car were stolen from the 200 block of Northeast 103rd Street.
  • Thursday night, Sept. 2, a vehicle was stolen in the 9100 block of Roosevelt Way Northeast.
  • Wednesday, Sept. 1, a vehicle was stolen about 7 p.m. in the 9700 block of Third Avenue Northeast.

Car prowls - cases where cars were broken into and items stolen:

  • About 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10, in the 9400 block of First Avenue Northeast.
  • Thursday afternoon, Sept. 9, in the 200 block of Northeast 92nd Street and Thursday evening, Sept. 9, in the 800 block of Northeast 78th Street - the same location as one of the burglaries, above.
  • Just before 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 9, in the 1200 block of Northeast 89th Street.
  • Early Friday morning, Sept. 3, in the 1600 block of Northeast 86th Street.

Narcotics were found Friday afternoon, Sept. 10, in the 7800 block of Roosevelt Way Northeast. No further details available.

  1. I swear people have nothing else better to do. Just in case, for crazy people and crazy dogs, my wife is now carrying a small pepper spray with her on walks in the evenings and early mornings.

    As a community, we should make a conscious effort to watch out for one another. I personally try to be aware of anything odd or out of ordinary that occurs around my house or any of my neighbors houses. I hate to say this but I don’t think its actual people that live in Maple Leaf doing these crimes, its the rif raf that passes through from Northgate and Lake City.
