Recent crimes reported to police in the neighborhood include two assaults, both at night and along Northeast Northgate Way.

On Sunday, Sept. 19, a woman was waiting for a bus a little after 8 p.m. in the 500 block of Northgate. Three people approached and a man said, “Give me your bag,” and pulled her purse off her shoulder, according to police.

The purse contained credit cards, cash and the woman’s passport. Police are investigating the incident as a robbery.

Shortly before midnight on Thursday, Sept. 16, a man tried to stop an “intense” argument between a man and a woman in the parking lot of the QFC at Northgate and Roosevelt Way Northeast.

Police report that when the victim asked the woman if she was OK, the man “got in his face and started to yell. The next thing that victim remembered was him waking up on the sidewalk.”

The suspect ran off toward Victory Creek Park, the pocket park at the supermarket’s east side at 1059 N.E. Northgate Way. Police are treating the incident as aggravated assault, and believe the victim was hit with a liquor bottle.

Other crimes listed on police reports include:

  • Burglars forced their way into a home in the 800 block of Northeast 102nd Street on Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 22.
  • A vehicle was stolen on Wednesday morning, Sept. 22, from the 500 block of Northeast 95th Street. A second car was stolen the same morning from the 8300 block of Lake City Way Northeast.
