Put some dance in your step this weekend by kicking it off with a visit to the monthly Ballroom Dancing session from 1-3 p.m. today at Northgate Community Center, 10510 Fifth Ave. N.E.

The first Friday of every month, you’re invited to enjoy live music from the Bonnie Birch Band featuring the fox trot, waltz, jitterbug and more. For more information, call 206-386-4283.

Also today, North Seattle Community Acupuncture, 11329 Pinehurst Way N.E., is holding its monthly free acupuncture day for new clients, as well as for repeating clients who bring in a new client. Can’t make it today? The next free acupuncture day is Nov. 6. You can make an appointment through the website, northseaforme.com, by calling 206-524-6428 or by emailing clinic@northseaforme.com.

Owner Steve Knobler also added that the business now has two more acupuncturists than when the business was located in the Northgate/Maple Leaf neighborhood, which has allowed him to take on more clients and expand hours. Check the website for more details.

  1. On one hand, this effort is to be applauded- ordinary walking is a basic exercise that has been literally been driven out of many lives. On the other hand, the school is surrounded by blocks of city streets that shamefully lack sidewalks sixty-odd years after incorporation into the city limits. Good for the school district for looking for ways to encourage kids to regularly exercise, it’s long past time for us as citizens to see to basic civic infrastructure. Walking is good for kids of all ages.
