Need help with tax preparation? Avoid the high fees with free help at the Northgate Library, 10548 Fifth Ave. N.E.

From Feb. 2 to April 13, The Seattle Public Library, AARP and United Way are collaborating to offer free tax help from 4-7:30 p.m. Mondays and from noon to 5 p.m. Wednesdays.

No appointments are necessary, although assistance is offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Other nearby libraries also offering free tax help include the Lake City Library, 12501 28th Ave. N.E., from 3:30-7:30 p.m. Mondays from Feb. 7 to April 11; and the Northeast Library, 6801 35th Ave. N.E., from 2-7 p.m. Thursdays from Feb. 3 to April 14.
