Owners of maoStudios move home, business(es) into Maple Leaf

After the owners of maoStudios, Michael Olson and Andrea Jensen, moved into Maple Leaf in October, it didn’t take them long to also move their business into the neighborhood.

Earlier this month, maoStudios opened at 9220 Roosevelt Way N.E., the space vacated in March by The Hive Social Club.

“We thought it was a good deal and we wanted to be able to walk to work,” Jensen said.

The six-year-old company most recently was located in a shared space in Green Lake, but Olson said after some growing pains during the economic downturn maoStudios again was ready for its own space. “We’re growing, so this space is kind of the next step for us,” he said.

The four-person branding company offers “anything to help strengthen a company, organization or brand,” Olson said. For instance, maoStudios could help a company from the ground up by naming it; writing its position statements; creating a logo, letterhead and signs; creating and maintaining a website; placing ads for the company and marketing it in other ways; conducting a company’s social media networking; and more.

Or it could provide just one or a few of those services, and aims to do so at a rate that’s lower than many other local branding and graphic design companies. In fact, Olson said maoStudioes hopes to soon offer a more affordable service to help small businesses such as their own create a website.

In the meantime, Jensen and Olson, who prefer to bike around town and embrace a green lifestyle, take pride that many of their clients are similarly supportive of the environment.

“We’re trying to attract people that are supportive to our own values,” Jensen said. Olson actually runs a biodiesel co-op with a group of friends, which the new Maple Leaf restaurant COA Mexican Eatery & Tequileria already is contributing to.

So if you’re wondering why we wrote “business(es)” in the headline, it turns out that maoStudios isn’t the only company that Jensen and Olson have moved into Maple Leaf.

In the little free time that Jensen has outside of maoStudios, she also designs and creates her own jewelry, and sells the jewelry both in stores nationwide and online at Bijoudally.
