A neighbor emails to say that between 7:15 and 8: 30 this morning her car, driveway and porch were vandalized. “Just a heads-up to neighbors:

Someone poured motor oil all over a car parked in our driveway around back; they also left a trail of oil all the way across the back porch leading up to the abandoned bottle laying in a puddle of oil. This was a seemingly random act?!

She lives at Northeast 80th Street and 17th Avenue Northeast.

  1. Now I have an email from our crime prevention coordinator that there were three “occupied” break ins last night, two in Maple Leaf. I think the crime map isn’t updated.

  2. I didn’t know about the car at 4th and 80th, but I do know a bit about the break in on 82nd at “3rd”. (There is no 3rd NE–it’s Latona NE–although 3rd is easier to locate.)

I’m waiting to hear more info, but I do know that it took place in the middle of the night while they were sleeping. Yes. Very upsetting. I’ll ask her about one of us contacting MLL with more details. I’m the blockwatch captain in our area, so people call me with this sort of news.

  3. Two other vehicles were stolen (80th and 4th AVE NE, and 3rd AVE NE and 82nd). Does anybody have information on either of these incidents? Both are showing on the Seattle crime map and occurred in the last 24 hours . . . .

  4. I saw 2 plastic containers full of oil sitting on a recycle bin in the alley behind Pags Pizza(~17th & 80th) yesterday. Some miserable soul must have grabbed one or both and soiled the area. About as random as it gets…
