Update March 10: Waffles is home. See second comment from Dan, below.

Robbie sent us this email overnight:

I just found a pup roaming around without its owner and with no tag on its collar, so I brought him home with me. I found him on the corner of Roosevelt Way Northeast and Northeast 82nd Street around 8 p.m. He is pretty young and white and brown. He is built like a basset hound mix with big floppy ears.

If you could post a story I will contact whoever responds right away.

  1. Thanks to Dan M and Maple Leaf Life. I returned Waffles this morning to his owner who was grateful and happy to see him.

  2. On our walk tonight, we saw signs posted by the owners of Waffles, with pictures of the same dog as above. We called Robbie after getting his number off his sign, and dog and owner should be reunited by now.

The funny part is that the light pole at NE 82nd and Roosevelt had a sign from each of them, on opposite sides.

This blog turns another neighborhood tragedy into a happy ending!

Now I hope the owners chip the dog…

  3. I took the little guy to Maple Leaf Vet and they were not able to detect a chip. No calls yet either, but hopefully soon.

  4. @Dan M: Thanks for the info. I actually put up a sign on the corner of 82 and Roosevelt this morning around 7:00am, so hopefully they see it sometime today.

  5. We were walking around the reservoir last night, and a young man approached us on Roosevelt near 82nd and said he was looking for his neighbor’s dog, who was white with brown spots and smallish.

He pointed to the area around 82nd as being where his neighbor was from, so maybe that’s a place to put a sign?

Good luck, this sounds like the dog.

  6. The owner will claim him soon enough… this blog always seems to get them back to their owners. Thanks for hanging onto him & just be patient! He’s too cute for somebody to not be missing him. 🙂

  7. Kudos Robbie!

It’s nice to see someone take such a vested interest and have the means to take the guy in for a bit while looking for the owner.

Hopefully he’s returned home. If not, it doesn’t sounds like you’d be opposed to keeping the guy haha.

  8. @KJ: I posted signs on a couple telephone poles and at Cloud City and Blue Saucer. Hopefully, at lunch I will have some time to take him down to Maple Leaf Vet care to check for a chip.

  9. Michael, didn’t mean to sound harsh, just not a fan of some shelters. Will be reported and listed on their lost animal hotline as soon as someone over there picks up the phone. Thanks!

  10. Please keep us posted. Thank you for holding on to the little guy 🙂 Once its in SHS/SAC…you just never know what’s going to happen. Great places to post: the 3 coffeeshops FOUND: DOG (age, weight, breed, location, email contact, phone) It’s worked before.

  11. I can report it, but I sure as heck am not going to let animal control take this little guy to some shelter until I let enough time go by to see if the owner claims him.
