Take a scroll through yesterday’s Big Blog post on seattlepi.com “Seattle’s next best neighborhoods” to read what residents here have known for years. The photo list features 10 Seattle neighborhoods to watch in the next decade, and naturally Maple Leaf is on the list:
TweetPlease — don’t call it Northgate, and don’t call it Ravenna. This low-profile neighborhood is making a name for itself as an affordable alternative to sought-after North Seattle neighborhoods on the other side of Interstate-5.

I can’t think of any neighborhood on the other side of I-5 I would want to live in. This home has been in our family for 50 years.

@Melody: I don’t know, I can pick out a couple of houses in Magnolia that would be pretty nice.

Is it just me or does it look like the photo dept. at the PI does not know where Maple Leaf is either?
That pic in the driving snow could be from just about anywhere and I personally cannot figure out where was taken. That aside, kudos to the ‘hood. It is a great place to live!

Pretty sure the picture isn’t in our neighborhood. I don’t think we have any curved streets quite that wide. If they wanted snowy Maple Leaf pics, we have those…

@MLG @David Miller The photo caption states near the bottom “Photo near Maple Leaf.” Eh, we’ll take what we can get!

Nice to be next best.
Seems like second runner up?
We need curbs and sidewalks in North Maple Leaf in order to be “The Best”.
Sound Transit, are you listening? The development anticipated around the planned transit terminal at Northgate DEMANDS infrastructure improvements from 1st NE through to 15th NE, from NE 92nd to Northgate Way.
If they designate this area as an Urban Growth Center, than we need the infrastructure to support that designation.

Affordable!? (loud snort) The last home I saw a listing for was $580,000.

Anonymous- The house across the street from us just sold for 328K. I get a real estate flyer on my doorstep each month charting local sales, there are quite a few in the 300-350K range, which I think is still pretty good for living in a city neighborhood close to the U-District and downtown.
