“Tweets by beat” reporting Maple Leaf disturbance this morning

Posted by Mike on October 20th, 2012

Neighbors subscribing to the Seattle Police Department’s innovative “Tweets by beat” were notified of two events this morning in the 9000 block of 12th Avenue Northeast.

The most recent tweet, at 8:30 a.m., called out a “DISTURBANCE, OTHER” at that location.

But earlier, at 5:44 a.m., police were called to the same location for” SHOTS -DELAY/INCLUDES HEARD/NO ASSAULT.”

Anybody know what happened here?

I do not know. The tweets by beat is interesting, but too vague to be very informative, it may be more useful to call the north precinct and ask for more detail. It may be minor or nothing, or it may be more serious. I say this because last weekend I witnessed and helped intervene in a violent battery and sexual assault, that uninterrupted may have become fatal, north on lake city way that also was listed in tweets as a mere ‘disturbance.’

Well, it happened across the street from our house. We woke at 5:30ish to two loud cracks — which we looked at each other and said, “I hope thats not gun shots”. Then we heard a man yelling loud enough to almost make out his words. Less than 20 minutes later, we had four police crusiers and multiple officers blocking the street for nearly and hour and searching the surrounding areas.

This house has been vacant for nearly two years and we have recurring incidents where the police are called because of this particular individual who “works” there at extremely odd hours.

Sigh. But gunshots! Gone too far.

Oh, he wasn’t arrested. He drove off in his car a little before 7. But, I guess he was back by 8:30 . . . thankfully we were at the gym.
