A dozen Seattle police officers by Olympic View Elementary this morning

Tom emails that there were about a dozen police cars near Northeast 96th Street and Eighth Avenue Northeast this morning, closing several streets.

“I would like to know what the situation was since cops were walking in my front yard w/guns drawn.”

We actually saw the tail end of this as we drove to a meeting around 10 a.m., when the patrol car count was down to four outside of Olympic View Elementary School (which was not in session).

By the time we were back in position this afternoon this incident was no longer on the screen of the police public information officers, and there was no (as of yet) report on the emergency 911 response map or the real-time dispatch log, nor any Tweets by beats reports.

Any neighbors know more?

(We did, in checking, run across an intriguing Seattle Fire dispatch a little after 9 a.m. of around nine fire trucks to the 400 block of Northeast Northgate Way for “Boat Under 50′ Fire Water.)

  1. This was all as a result of a very tragic domestic incident. Thank goodness that no one was harmed. The family needs time to heal and not worry what neighbors might ‘think.’ Let’s move on folks.

  2. Just found out what was going on. Domestic violence. Not the first time. 🙁
Thought guy had a gun. Geez, it takes 12 officers? Taken into custody, but later released.

  3. There was still one officer on 8th NE near the corner of NE 96gh from 8:30-9pm 7/3.
    Anyone have any additional information?

  4. I was riding up to ace hardware and bumped into this incident. The officers told me turn around. By the time I came back through half an hour later all but two police cars were left and they let me ride past. It must have ended peacefully (hopefully) as it seemed pretty quiet by then. I hope everyone is ok.
Editor: pretty sure everyone’s OK, as no medic or aid units dispatched. We’re hoping for an outcome like this one.
