“More high winds on the way; Eastside reports power outages” is the current headline in The Seattle Times.

But:

“Windstorm may be a bust” is the header of Cliff Mass’ post this afternoon.

The Times:

A short-lived but powerful windstorm is expected to hit the Puget Sound area Thursday afternoon with enough force to topple trees, cut power service and make a mess of the evening commute.

Sustained winds of 25 to 40 mph, with gusts up to 60 mph, are forecast to hit Pierce County by about 3 p.m., King County about 4 p.m. and shortly after that in Snohomish County and farther north.

The Woodland Park Zoo WildLights have been cancelled because of the predicted winds this afternoon and tonight.

Mass says:

The latest hourly HRRR forecasts are suggesting that the wind event may be MUCH less than predicted, particularly over Puget Sound.

Here’s the official National Weather Service forecast.
