Jennifer emails: “Interested in what’s going into the Little Gym?

It will be an old fashioned full-service USDA butchery and deli, featuring products from local farms. We will have a well-curated selection of cheese, wine, beer, and deli items plus select grocery and prepared culinary sides to go. A large percentage of the deli meats will be created in house with cut-to-order fresh meats, smoked meats, and handmade fresh sausages. Select grocery items will be available.

The name? The Shambles – an area in In York, England “that at one time had a street of butchers. It’s where farmers would come to sell, and then have a a good meal.”

The Little Gym left its spot on the corner of 15th Avenue Northeast and Northeast 80th Street and will move to the location of the former Maple Leaf Pharmacy on Northeast 89 Street and Roosevelt Way Northeast. The space has been empty for nearly a year.

Other news about The Shambles: “There will be a beer and craft cocktail bar on one side, and half will be a family friendly area. Coffee shop and grab and go items in the morning. We hope to be open by April.”
