From our news partners at The Seattle Times:

Seattle police are investigating a fatal single-car crash near Northgate Mall.

A car apparently struck a tree around 9:30 a.m. Friday at Northeast Northgate Way and Third Avenue Northeast, killing the driver.

The gender and age of the driver were not immediately released.

KOMO adds:

Images from Air4 show the front-end of the classic car completely smashed.

Traffic was rerouted in the area, and a tow truck was brought in to remove the car after the scene was processed.
