Northgate Mall’s Winter Wonderland will come to life when Santa arrives tomorrow. Santa will be available for photos daily through Dec. 24.

This year, Santa isn’t waiting for Thanksgiving to visit the Northgate/Maple Leaf neighborhood. So if you’re among the many who prefer to beat the holiday rush, Santa is scheduled to arrive this Friday, Nov. 19, at his Winter Wonderland at Northgate Mall.

He’ll be available for photos Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Dec. 24. But the festivities aren’t limited to the kids. Pets also are invited to pose with Santa from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Nov. 21 and Dec. 5.

Northgate Community Center, 10510 Fifth Ave. N.E., is offering another opportunity for the kids to give Santa their wish lists during its annual Breakfast With Santa from 10 a.m. to noon Dec. 4. Families will be served a hearty meal including eggs and sausage, and will get the opportunity to tell Santa what they want for Christmas between the myriad activities.

Children’s entertainer Alleyoop, pictured, will perform at Breakfast with Santa, and kids also will receive a goody bag. Cost is $15 for adults, and $8 for children 3 and older. Tickets already are selling fast, so make your reservation as soon as possible, said Kyle Regan with the center.

“The sooner they can call in the better,” he said. To make a reservation, call 206-386-4283.

The following week, families are invited back to the community center for Gingerbread House Decorating starting at 6 p.m. Dec. 10. The center will provide everything you need to make a centerpiece that you can bring home to showcase with your other holiday decorations. Cost is $5 per family; no reservations are required.

And if you were hoping to read more about the Holiday Wreath Making event that had been scheduled for this Saturday, Nov. 20, unfortunately that event also has been canceled.

Do you know of more holiday events taking place in the neighborhood? Let us know and we’ll add them to our Events Calendar.
