More details have been released on Saturday afternoon’s robbery of the Alaska USA Federal Credit Union inside the Safeway store on Roosevelt Way.

Police say the robber was a woman, thin and wearing glasses, who passed the teller a note demanding money about 1:30 p.m. Aug. 7. She is white and 40 to 50 years old.

Officers detained a suspect a few blocks away, but it was the wrong woman.

The store, in the 7300 block of Roosevelt Way Northeast, was last robbed in June, that time by a man.

Police also report that a car was stolen Monday evening in the 1000 block of Northeast 90th Street (near Maple Leaf Ace Hardware and the Maple Leaf Grill).

  1. The car was found Tuesday afternoon approximately three blocks away with no damage. It seems teenage hooligans were just out to prove that they could steal a car.
