Lost dog in storm! Vinnie was lost from Northeast 92nd Street and Eighth Avenue Northeast. David writes:

Please find attached a flyer with the details about Vinnie. He is a very nice old dog who has always had a sneaky penchant for escaping the house. I am particularly worried about him this time because of the weather. He has usually charmed someone into taking him in and I am hoping that is happening tonight.

“Vinnie”

Neutered male, White with wiry fur.

Sweet, old dog about 25 lbs/12” high.

No collar but does have a microchip

If found, please call (206) 985-0446

Or bring him to 9212 8th AVE NE

4:40 p.m. update: Schools closed Wednesday.

Due to weather conditions, all Seattle Public Schools and facilities will be closed Wednesday, Nov. 24. This means there is no school for students or staff and all activities will be canceled. The central office at John Stanford Center will also be closed.

4:15 p.m. update: Side streets have started freezing again. Metro says buses remain on snow routes, probably through Wednesday morning.

Expect buses to be crowded and significantly delayed when on snow routes and travel is difficult. It is also likely Metro will continue to have to cancel entire routes, if road conditions do not improve.

Roads: Stay off of them, if possible, says the city. Even if they look passable, there’s a risk of black ice. Some roads are just flat-out closed, including Northeast Northgate Way from 23th Avenue Northeast to Lake City Way.

Libraries: All locations of The Seattle Public Library, including the downtown Central Library, will close at 5 p.m. tonight, due to snow. The Green Lake Branch is closed all day Tuesday due to lack of staffing. All locations will be open from noon to 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

Parks and community centers: Green Lake and Northgate community centers are open until 4 p.m. today. Jackson Park Golf Course is open for sledding and other sliding!

Garbage: No pickup today. For Wednesday, Seattle Public Utilities will make a decision whether to suspend garbage, yard waste and recycling collection once road conditions have been evaluated for safety. Customers will be allowed to put out double amounts next week.
