Update Monday morning: Total weekend rain in Maple Leaf = 3.45 inches.

Update 11:20 a.m.

Another .75 inches of rain in Maple Leaf since dawn.

We had 2.65 inches of rain overnight in Maple Leaf – that’s a Lot. And wind gusts to 25.3 mph.

The National Weather Service issued a rare urban flood advisory, and in a release issued mid-morning, Seattle Public Utilities warned that “more than three inches of rain has fallen in the past 24 hours — pushing the Seattle area well over the landslide threshold.”

Slides have already knocked out all Amtrak service except Portland-Eugene through Monday.

Rain is expected to diminish this afternoon as a cold front moves in. “Monday is looking mainly dry,” according to Seattle’s National Weather Service office. The next system, bringing cold rain, is expected after midnight Monday.
