If you think it rained a lot in Maple Leaf over the weekend, other parts of Seattle had it even worse.
According to the above storm rain gauge from Seattle Public Utilities, Maple Leaf got 3 to 3.5 inches in a 24-hour period after the Pineapple Express rainstorm hit on Saturday. For much of the city, the amount of rainfall was close to that of a 20- to 30-year storm.
But in areas such as West Seattle, Green Lake and South Park, the amount of rain that fell was close to that of a historical 100-year event.
We’re not out of the woods yet. The sky may be blue right now, but according to the National Weather Service, there’s a 50 percent chance thunderstorms will return this afternoon, along with a 70 percent chance of rain tonight.
Good thing we got that crosswalk yesterday!
