  1. It seems like a bad decision for Maple Leaf Ace to close on all those snowy days instead of selling shovels, chains and de-icer. The Shell on Lake City and 20th had a display with all that stuff up front. I was thankful all the restaurants and pubs stayed open and they were packed with walk in traffic when the roads were bad!

  2. Am I the only one who is mystified that the hardware store is closed “due to the extraordinarily icy conditions”?

That’s like the snow plow drivers calling in that they can’t get to work because there’s too much snow, so, sorry, no plowing today.

One would think that our ordinarily extraordinarily helpful and well-stocked hardware store, which is a huge amenity to our neighborhood, would have within its capability staying open in a time of need. They didn’t even lose power!

If the bars can be open on such an extraordinarily icy day, one would think so too could the hardware store.

That said, I didn’t need to go to the hardware store for the last few days, although a couple of bags of sand could be well-used now. (Are they open today Friday?)

  3. Hey! Thanks for posting our IGLOO!!! It was made by my daughter, Olivia Erickson, co-manager at Maple Leaf Villa, and her boy friend, Tim James. Mila, Olivia’s daughter was a big help, too.
We are also getting flickering lights. Cross your fingers!

  4. Some flickering last night but none today. There is a grid of Maple Leaf that is prone to outages. I believe it runs from 70th up to 92nd and just a few streets over on either side.

Hoping the Safeway is open! Low food.

  5. Not sure about Maple Leaf proper, but At 10 am Victory Heights and Pinehurst side streets were like perfectly groomed skate skiing trails. Hard packed under half inch or inch of fresh snow.

  6. Anyone else having dimming lights off and on? Last night, we had a big enough dip in power that the carbon monoxide detector chirped (like when it’s unplugged). Seems Mapleleaf escapes power outages *normally.*
