The Green Skunk opens just north of Maple Leaf

So far, all of the area medical marijuana dispensaries cropping up are either just on or barely outside of Maple Leaf’s borders, and the newest addition is no exception.

In the last month or so, The Green Skunk opened just north of Maple Leaf in the Northgate/Pinehurst neighbohoorhood at 11231 Roosevelt Way N.E.

They’ve already gotten a writeup in the Seattle Weekly’s Toke Signals blog — not even the new Patty’s Eggnest has received that kind of publicity yet!

  1. If LC’s was doing well, there would be more little diners around. Dont you get it susan. Its just business, and marijuana is business. In the long run marijuana stores will allow us to open more LC’s.

  2. Yes, the property owner can do whatever he wants. LC’s Kitchen was paying the lease. Brian P. said “maybe if the neighborhood supported more non-medical marijuana businesses these place wouldn’t have storefronts to open up in”. I was saying that even patronizing a neighborhood business won’t necessarily save it if the landlord wants another business there.

LC’s Kitchen was hanging in there, paying the lease and well loved by the community but even that didn’t save it from being turned into a pot in the box.

  3. Susan. Think about what you are saying first. Dont let your personal feelings get in the way. The owner knew LCs kitchen was not making money, otherwise they would have met the lease price. It is his property and he can do what he wants. What he wants is to make money.

The landlord is kicking them out so that his son can have the space for his business. It is appalling. Putting a well-loved neighborhood restaurant out of business just so junior can use the site that LC’s Kitchen has worked so hard in, and putting good people out of work in this economy.

  5. There was a lot of love for LC’s Kitchen on this page. Their lease was not renewed and the space was leased to the owner’s friend to open Delta 9. This page reported that LC’s was weathering the recession storm and actually doing okay. There were a lot of upset people on this page when it closed.

  6. LCs was not kicked out. lol Nobody ate there. the service and food was horrible. Ask around on that one Susan

  7. maybe if the neighborhood supported more non-medical marijuana businesses these place wouldn’t have storefronts to open up in.

  8. there needs to be even more pot stores. people need to get used to it. its coming just like bars. its the future. be open minded

  9. Guess, there must be a lot of people in North Seattle in dire need of medical marijuana and one or two places isn’t enough (sarc).

I worry about what will become of the old Italian Spaghetti house….another topless joint, pawn shop, gun shop, or marijuana clinic? Take your pick.

  10. Sweet, we sure need more. I can understand one or two, but it baffles me how all of these places are going to stay in business.
