Maple Leaf 7-Eleven robbed early this morning

A neighbor emails that the Maple Leaf 7-Eleven on Roosevelt Avenue Northeast was robbed early this morning, and that he might have spotted the robber.

“There were about five squad cars around the store wrapping up their reports at about 4 a.m. The clerk told me the robber demanded cigarettes, cash, and scratch tickets, while flashing a gun that was tucked into his waistband. The clerk was in disbelief/shock but he’ll be okay.”

The 7-Elven is at 9126 Roosevelt Way N.E. The neighbor writes: “I may have unwittingly caught a glimpse of the suspect on my way there. A man started to cross the street then he saw me and quickly stepped back onto the sidewalk and continued on that side of the road. There was no traffic. I thought it was odd.”

The robbery has not yet shown up on the police crime map.

  1. Scratch tickets?
The ones with serial numbers on them?! Hmm.

How about posting some of the security camera photos, maybe he would be recognized.

Editor: Seems to be a problem with that. From the police report:
The store has recorded video surveillance equipment. However, W/ had to call another employee with a key to open the office that had the computer recording equipment. Once other employee arrived it was discovered that he only could open the door. Nobody knew how to operate the
computer or video system. It was then revealed that the only person who could obtain the video was the owner. He is currently in Germany and won’t be back until 08/22.

  2. Side note: The same 7-11 was robbed about 5 years ago. In that instance the cashier had a gun pointed at him. All I can say is hopefully the security cameras picked something up.

  3. I’ve lived in Maple Leaf since 1984. This crap has always gone on. My house has been broken into three times (once since I got an alarm system), and my garage twice. I have had three cars prowled. In my neighborhood: countless car prowls and burglaries, and a garage arson. One instance of thugs trying to kick in the front door of a little old lady at 2 AM, thwarted by a burly neighbor.

If you are shocked by what goes on in ML, it’s only because you have not lived here long enough. As one SPD officer told me, “Maple Leaf is an ATM for the criminal element of Seattle”.

  4. Oh the joys of living close to ghetto gate, I mean Northgate. I love Maple Leaf, but I wish we could pick up the neighborhood and move it a bit further away from Lake City and Northgate.

  5. OMG! I do know why I am so shocked with all the crime, car prowls, and burglery in our area, but I am. Glad the clerk is ok.
