Seattle-based real estate site Redfin today named its top 10 hottest housing neighborhoods in the country for 2013.

Eight of them are in California. One is in Chicago.

The 10th is us, Maple Leaf, north Seattle.

Here in “N. Maple Leaf,” according to Redfin, prices are up 22 percent, year over year, and sales up 15 percent. Listings are down by 44 percent.

The hottest neighborhoods are all seeing shrinking selection, increasing sales, and increasing prices—often at rates far above the metro areas that contain them.

Today’s Puget Sound Business Journal, picking up on the post, quoted a Redfin agent: “North Maple Leaf is in the Roosevelt School district and has lower prices than some of the surrounding neighborhoods like Wedgwood and Ravenna. There is easy access to I-5 South to commute to downtown. Homes that go on the market sell very quickly in this area.”

  1. I’ve been renting a house in ML for the past several years and am looking to buy. When will your house be on the market Maple Leaf Res.? What street are you on? This article is unfortunately is not so great news for me… couldn’t this come out after I purchase a home?

  2. We live in Maple Leaf and love our cape cod, but we need more space and wish there were more houses in ML with bigger footprints to choose from.

  3. I’ve refinanced about 5 families in our neighborhood and would be willing to meet anyone either at my office in the Northgate Exec Cntr or at Cloud City. I used the HARP, VA IRRL and FHA program(s) for 4 of the deals, which allow you to be underwater or use a property value waiver.

  4. This is great news! Just a couple more fixes to my house and on the market it goes! Love living in MP, but its time for a new-er house. If MP has what we need, we’ll be more than happy to stay! Anyone up to buy a gorgeous home in MP soon?

  5. Great! Only about 10 more articles like this and maybe my Maple Leaf house will be back to what I paid for it.

All joking aside, this is great news for homeowners in Maple Leaf.
