If your kids can’t get enough of movies like “A Bugs Life” and “Charlotte’s Web,” Northwest Puppet Center has an entertaining and educational live show they’re sure to enjoy.

With assistance from expert entomologist Erin Sullivan of Woodland Park Zoo, Spyglass Theater is presenting “Secret Life of Bugs” from March 6-21 at the Maple Leaf theater, 9123 15th Ave. N.E.

Step through a magnifying glass into the miniature world of insects. With mesmerizing blacklight puppetry, witness the metamorphosis of a caterpillar into a butterfly. Along the way, spiders, dung beetles and dragonflies engage in daily activities such as orb weaving, nesting, and hunting. An exotic soundtrack provides the thread connecting different species in the web of life.

Showtimes are at 1 and 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, with tickets costing $8.50 for children, $10.50 for adults and $9 for seniors. Advance tickets are available at Brown Paper Tickets, or at the box office 30 minutes before each show.

There also are weekday school group performances March 3-19 at 10:30 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Tickets cost $7,or $4 for federal free lunch students. To sign up your group, call 523-2579 or e-mail info@nwpuppet.org.
