A reader reported spotting car prowlers near Northeast 85th Street and 16th Avenue Northeast last night about 2 a.m.
Although police responded immediately to the scene and are believed to have caught the suspects, the reader still would like to warn neighbors to be extra vigilant about locking doors to their cars and home. Also, if you’ve been a recent car prowl victim, he asks that you “report anything missing to the police as further evidence against those that were caught.”
In April, we reported that multiple cars were burglarized on 92nd Avenue Northeast between Fifth Avenue and Roosevelt Way, and more recently we’ve heard of car prowls taking place at the Northgate Transit Center and at Northwest Hospital.
If you’ve got a car prowl to report, the best way to submit a police report is to call 206-625-5011 unless it’s an emergency, in which case call 9-1-1.
You also can track crime in the neighborhood via the city’s new crime map.
The prowl was just south of this intersection, and the perpetrators (there were two) were stopped by police mid-block heading toward Lake City. Though they were stopped, I don’t know if they were arrested or if any charges were filed. I’m not sure why the incident is not yet showing on the crime map.
I live very close to this intersection. I’d love to get more detailed info on this incident, so I know what/who to look for.
Where exactly? Suspect details? Were they actually caught? Looking at crime map, it looks like car prowl also occured a few blocks north on 16th NE on July 7…
