UPDATE: Seattle Police have issued a release on this robbery.
The Moneytree check cashing service on Northeast Northgate Way was robbed at gunpoint Monday afternoon, Seattle Police report. Officers Monday night still were searching for the robber, described as wearing a wig and a hat.
The robbery, at 551-B N.E. Northgate Way, occurred about 4:23 p.m. July 19, according to police. The robber’s truck was found at a Comfort Inn on Aurora Avenue North about 9 p.m.
Seattle Police are reporting two other recent robberies in the Maple Leaf area, but because of the way the city’s new reporting system is working, few details are available.
One occurred very early Monday in the 9400 block of Roosevelt Way Northeast. The police report simply indicates a “robbery-street-bodyforce” about 1 a.m. July 19.
The other occurred about 2 p.m. Saturday, July 17, in the 300 block of Northeast Northgate Way. It, too, is a “robbery-street-bodyforce,” and took place at or near a “specialty store.”
