Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and the Northgate Community Center has activities to help you prepare for the big day.
On Friday, Feb. 11, the whole family is invited to the center, located at 10510 Fifth Ave. N.E., for Valentine Cookie Decorating starting at 6 p.m. The center provides the cookies, frosting and other decorations, and you provide the creativity for the sweet treat you’ll be able to bring home to your Valentine. Cost is $5 per family.
However, you’ll want to put your creativity hat on even before the Valentine Cookie Decorating event. Also on Friday is the deadline for the community center’s Valentine Poem Writing Contest. For inspiration, it writes:
Roses are red, violets are blue, write us a poem … it could mean treats for you!
Poems must be submitted to the front desk by 4 p.m. Friday, and winners from each age group will be announced on Valentine’s Day.
