Maple Leaf parents seek to unite on social media

Sara emails about a Facebook page for Maple Leaf parents, and Ashley has a similar question:

From Sara:

I’m a Maple Leafer (is that what we call ourselves? haha), and a new stepmom to two young boys, and I work for myself.

Just this week, after struggling all summer with how to handle childcare this year, I started a group on Facebook for parents who work from home. The idea is this – we parents can get together at someone’s home (or rotate homes), and have our kids meet and play together, because it’s easier to handle more kids than just one.

This would lessen the financial strain of finding childcare in addition to paying for preschool three days per week (in my case), the time spent in the car driving kids all over creation, and help us build a village, a community where we can all support each other!

From Ashley, via the Facebook page for Maple Leaf Parents:

Hi! With our son attending Thornton Creek and our family friends scattered all over Seattle, we don’t know many Maple Leaf families. I have heard others are in this same boat. Is there interest in starting a separate Facebook page for those interested in meeting families in our neighborhood?

My initial thoughts are a moms or parent meet up at the Roosevelt Ale House and then seeing where it goes. Any interest?

There were 20-some comments on Ashley’s idea when we last looked.

Sara’s Facebook page is Maple Leaf Parents Co-Working.
